Quest 1 complete

Today I drove to a town about 50 miles away to get one of my favorite CDs signed. I'm really happy I did it not just because I love the album but also because I tend to struggle with anxiety with people, driving, new places, etc etc but lately I've been feeling more mentally and physically well due to treatment of my CVS. So, I thought it would be good for me to go on a silly little adventure and this seemed like a great opportunity. Most of the time if I go out of town it's to do something with John and since I had a problem with spontaneous projectile v-ing it only made sense to have him drive.

The drive was gorgeous. I stayed off the main thoroughfare in favor of more winding path and I'm glad I did. I saw several white pelicans, a golden eagle, a red tailed hawk, lots of horses, goats, alpacas, and gorgeous unobstructed views of the front range. I brought Sigur Ros's first album agaetis byrjun to play on the way. It really was a lovely drive.

I was a bit nervous to ask for the autograph mosty due to it being a bit "cringe" or what have you. So, that part was fairly quick. I introduced myself and explained how I heard her on the radio the day before , how her album has been a favorite of mine for years and that I'd really love it if she signed it for me. She seemed really flattered and a bit emotional to see the CD. She said that this was the first time anyone had asked her to do it, had a small sort of laugh cry and added she was surprised anyone even still owned it. I told her it's an amazing album, thanked her for the music and for signing it. Then headed off.

I had planned to stay for awhile to watch the show and have some street food but then I remembered that my tummy isn't the most reliable with new food. So, I headed back to the car, popped the disk in to celebrate my little quest and allowed myself to wander home instead of relying on GPS.

Anyway. Here it is.

I'm glad I did this. So much so that I think I'm going to come up with a weekly Friday solo quest. There are so many things I've wanted to do over the last few years of me being sick and this would be an awesome way for me to get them done.

comments

The quest 1

Tomorrow I’m going to do something that might be a little strange. You see, I have this CD, one of my favorites in a fairly large collection. t was made in 2009 by this amazingly talented woman. the band isn’t well known or famous or anything. most likely if I mentioned the name most people wouldn’t know about them. Anyway, this afternoon when I drove to the community garden i had the radio on a particular station and the DJ said her name and I realized she is the same person who made said cd. The station is having an event a few towns over. There will be bands, food trucks etc etc. So, I’m going to go on a tiny quest to see if she’s willing to sign my copy of her CD, listen to some bands and have a bit of street food. it should be a good time whether she signs my CD or not.

comments
